Oldie But Goodie

I like to rent films from the older sections in the movie store sometimes, either to rewatch something I've already seen or to finally get around to seeing something I've always wanted to watch, but never gotten the chance to. Tonight I watched Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow. Based on the Jane Austin classic, this is the story on which Clueless was based. Well, I absolutely loved it! It's a charming story, very ahead of it's time (imagine marrying your "friend" in the days of Jane Austin - that would indeed be a blessing!), and it's so gentile and lovely! The costumes and scenery are beautiful and it's such a wonderful escape from the fast-paced world we live in now, taking us to a slower time in England when ladies did needle point in the garden, people sat down to take their tea without television and a party consisted of old friends, sitting around a fire drinking wine. Lovely days gone by!
I recently moved my recently read books into another page which you can access by clicking the link at the top of this site. I'm also going to start a film link, showing my favorite films, which I'll add to from time to time when I see something I really love. If you're ever stuck for something to rent from Netflix, have a look at my suggestions!
Pink Julep!

  1. I haven't seen this one! I will have to pick it up. Renting from the older section is smart and definitely cheaper!

  2. I actually ended up buying this version of because I love this movie! I like it a lot more than the one with Kate Beckinsale. It's one of my favorite books- even about Austen's other works. If you haven't seen Jane Austen Book Club, you might want to check that out, too. Glad I'm not the only one who enjoys this movie- most of my friends do not because they think Emma's too much of a snob hahah

  3. Oohhh I totally forgot about this movie! I would LOVE to rent it soon and watch it. Thanks for the tip! :)

  4. I haven't seen this one, but was just saying to my husband today that I think we should rent some movies tonight. It's terrible outside thus a perfect movie night! :) I'm going to check out your favorites, too. Thanks! :)

  5. I love this one! It's a favorite of mine, especially since it was a play of mine from high school theater.

Have you seen Jane Austen Book Club? Or Becoming Jane? Also so good!!
