The 158th Annual Oxford Cambridge Boat Race

The Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race is coming to London again this year for the 158th face-off on the Thames between the two rival universities and I can't wait! This will be my 2nd time attending the race, which begins in Putney where I live.

The race attracts to our little neighborhood an interesting mix of people including students, alumni and the general public to see the outcome, enjoy the various food stalls and party in the many surrounding pubs all day long. Former rowers include Hugh Laurie (a.k.a. Dr. House) pictured above who rowed for Cambridge in 1980. His father was on the winning Cambridge team in the 1930's!

Also of note, the Winklevoss twins... you may recognize their name from The Social Network.

My husband and I will be packing our little picnic and cameras up and heading down to the river to enjoy the race and the atmosphere it brings! I still haven't settled on a team that I'm partial to, so I just enjoy the madness! If you're in London this weekend, this event is a must and if you're not, you can follow the Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race on Twitter!

What do you have planned for Easter weekend?
