Pink Julep Loves: Bio-Oil

I've heard about Bio-Oil over and over again, but it never quite registered with me. To be honest, I've been particularly lax with my skincare for the past year and it along with the change of weather & dirty air quality of London, have come to haunt me. I've been suffering from flaky forehead, clogged dirty pores and dry skin all over for a good few months - it's been heinous to say the least.

Last week I had a facial and the therapist went on and on about how dehydrated my skin is and how it's so dry it's causing premature aging. She also said that the dry skin was blocking up my pores and causing some other unattractive issues... That set me into action, buying loads of products and increasing my daily water intake to try to get my skin back in shape!

I heard through the grapevine that Sienna Miller was using Bio-Oil for her stretch marks, just one of its many uses and that reminded me to try out the treatment that everyone raves about regularly!

That's just what Bio-Oil is, a miracle in a bottle! It's inexpensive, available in several different sizes and can be found online as well as in most high-street pharmacies. Bio-Oil can be used for the treatment of scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging skin and dehydrated skin. I've been applying the oil to the dry parts of my skin twice daily and I started seeing results in 2 days. My forehead lines are starting to disappear and my skin is getting to be as soft as a baby's bottom! I've also been seeing results on other areas of my body where I've applied the oil - my knees, dry elbows and feet.

Though it's an oil, Bio-Oil doesn't feel greasy like you might expect. It has the consistency of a serum and has a lovely smell to it that's slightly reminiscent of cinnamon. Once massaged into the skin, it's invisible and doesn't leave an oil slick look on your face. Also, you can barely feel that it's there, so it does make your skin feel unclean or oily. It's easy to tell how much you need to use. On really dry areas, the skin seems to soak it up quickly, so more of the product is required, but on smoother areas such as the eye area or the cheeks, a pea sized amount works fine.

Do you have any magic beauty secrets for dry skin? If so, please share them! While I've made great strides with the incorporation of Bio-Oil into my daily routine, I still have miles to go before I get my face back to normal.
