Yesterday I headed riverside in my lovely neighbourhood of Putney to see some of the Diamond Jubilee flotilla excitement in person, even though we knew the Royal Family wouldn't be joining until further down the river. I got all decked out in my British Red, White and Blue and headed out to see what I could see!
It was a bit mad! There were food stalls everywhere, actors performing and people were very festive, despite the freezing cold weather.
We did manage to catch a glimpse of the Commonwealth Sea Cadets boats that were part of the flotilla!
I just couldn't resist getting a shot of this poster in someone's window. Unfortunately, it was very cold, making the televised BBC version complete with Royal Family seem more appealing so we headed home with some...
CAKE! Yes, I'm busting my hump at the gym these days, but cake is practically mandatory on British holidays - it's just something you do! This is the lemon cake from Costa Coffee and it's delicious - one of my favourite deserts ever! We grabbed all the necessary supplies and camped out with blankets and iPads for Tweeting to watch the momentous day unfold on television! It was great!
All in all, it was great fun! Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen dress raised a fashion fuss as usual - she looked gorgeous - and the pageantry was unrivalled!
Did you watch the Jubilee Flotilla? What did you think?
