The Paris Diaries: Day 11

While I was away, I found that the best thing about taking a long holiday is having the time to chill out sometimes and not do much. A lot of people have commented on my choice to holiday in Paris for 2 weeks in pure shock and horror... How could I stay in a city for 2 whole weeks? Wouldn't I prefer the country, the Lake District or perhaps a sunny holiday on the beach at an all-inclusive resort in Greece or Spain? Well, for me, a city is usually best. I like to have the option of having something to do or see, somewhere to go... I also love having the option of not doing anything or going anywhere. Staying in an apartment instead of a hotel gives you that option since you have a kitchen - you can eat in, make your own coffee or at the very least, have the fridge stocked with Coca-Cola Light. Also, in the right neighborhood, you can have a lovely day just wandering in and out of shops, candy stores and restaurants when public transportation and putting on make-up seem way too much to ask. With 15 days in Paris, we had our fair share of lazy days and day 11 was one of them. We got some great exercise walking the hills of Montmartre, looking in shops and taking in the views from the top of the world. In fact, I ate like a pig in Paris as did my husband, but we both came home a few pounds lighter... Just another glorious benefit of a city holiday!

Beauty Monop is a bit like a Sally's or Sephora... It's a big shop that chock full of all your beauty needs! The nail polish selection alone is a site to behold... I left a lot of my hard-earned Euros in Beauty Monop!

It never gets old wondering around the city and suddenly looking up to see an oh-so-unexpected view of The Eiffel Tower... It's a constant surprise that just keeps popping up everywhere!

On the Rue des Abbesses in Montmartre, there's a super cute cafe called Un Zebre a Montmartre... The owner (or at least we thought he was the owner, but he could've just been a waiter) looks like he used to be in a rock band in the 70's - the decor is a reflection of that. Wall art inside, mosaic tables outside, the eclectic ambiance is reminiscent of the 90's coffee shops that seem to have faded away... I didn't eat there, but the coffee was fantastic and the food looked & smelled delicious!

Surprisingly, I didn't really buy too much in Paris... Funny enough, I just wasn't really in the mood, but I did come home with a ridiculous amount of tights... Go figure! There are so many great places to buy tights in Paris and the bonus is that you don't have to waste time trying them on.

My haul from the Beauty Monop... Everything I needed to redo my nails. I can't believe I thought it was a good idea to go away for 2 whole weeks and not pack my nail gear... Oh well, at least it was a good reason for a bit of splurging on some of my favorite products!
