Golden Globes 2013 Best & Worst Dressed

The Best

Hollywood's finest gave a good show on the Golden Globes red carpet last night and I must say, it was the most interesting red carpet I've seen in a long time. A lot of risks were taken, there weren't too many people wearing the same trends - variety was the spice of life last night in Tinsel Town!

In my opinion, Jennifer Lawrence stole the show in bright orange Dior Couture! She was breathtaking and I can't help but think of Katniss's flames when I see these photos! The metallic belt is a lovely touch, the clutch is pretty, but not distracting and the drop earrings compliment her simple, tousled up-do perfectly. She looked amazing!

It was very hard to choose between Kate Hudson and Jennifer Lawrence because this Alexander McQueen dress is INSANE! The collar, the belt, the cut-out! It's just gorgeous!

Olivia Munn's Giorgio Armani dress is another favorite! I love the printed bodice, the little sliver of silver at the waste and the shape is simple & beautiful. Styled beautifully with a simple silver clutch, simple earrings, a blinging necklace and sleek pulled back hair, the dress is the statement of this look. I only wish Olivia had opted for a slicked back messy ponytail instead for a sexier look.

I am lusting over the Alexandre Vuathier gown Michelle Dockery wore last night! It's elegant, interesting and chic! Styled with a 20's style bob (no doubt inspired by Downton Abbey), a gold statement bangle and a metallic clutch, this is red carpet fashion at its finest!

Va va voom! Sophia Vergara is sexy in a garbage bag, but in this sparkling black number she is downright goddess material! I love the dress, the long straight hair, the red lipstick and the cocktail rings. This is a lesson in how to look sexy without looking like a tramp. Well played!

Carla Gugino is beautiful and so is her innovative Ram Al Ali gown. Her hair is perfect, the black clutch is complimentary and the statement earrings finish off this elegant, but daring look. A+!

Finally! I was getting worried that Amanda Seyfried was destined to live on my worst dressed lists forever, but it's nice to see her back. Her Givenchy gown is very pretty, but just quirky enough to suit her young, hip style. And thank you for not tying your hair up in some heinous top knot!

Nobody wears blush better than a ginger as seen her on Amy Adams who stunned in Marchesa last night. Amy has the perfect body for a mermaid style frock and the 20's inspired hair was a great choice too!

Anne Hathaway is a modern day Audrey Hepburn in white Chanel Haute Couture. She looked perfect, relaxed and quite frankly, like a winner! After seeing this, I can't wait to see what she wears to the Oscars!

Claire Danes having a Jessica Rabbit moment with sexy hair is a YES in my book! I can't believe she just had a baby!

Jennifer Garner dazzled in sparkling red Vivienne Westwood Couture! Her wispy hair and gold accessories were perfect and she looks better than ever!

Now... This is how you do a thigh split without looking like a floozy! If you show leg, cover up on top - or at least that's what my granny always told me. Leah Michelle rarely makes my lists for best dressed, but she killed it at the Golden Globes in her white Elie Saab gown.

I am not a fan of Megan Fox, but aside from her scowl in this photo, she looked amazing at the Globes last night wearing Dolce & Gabbana. The blush color of her gown goes beautifully with her brown hair.

Little Tay Tay is all grown up! I would've thought this color would be too severe on her, but I'd have been wrong. Taylor Swift's wine colored Donna Karan Atelier gown is gorgeous... I only wish she'd have worn some emerald statement earrings, but all together, she looked gorgeous!

Zoey Deschanel is so cute! She looked like a princess in her red Oscar de la Renta gown!

When I first saw photos of Kristen Bell in Jenny Packham I thought, "That dress makes her look pregnant - she should fire her stylist!" and then I realized, she is pregnant! This is pregnancy red carpet style at its finest and I'm glad for once to see an expecting celeb that's not flashing her mom-to-be cleavage! Well played!

The Worst

Debra Messing is always a red carpet favorite of mine, which is why I'm so disappointed in this monstrosity. This Donna Karan frock might be beautiful, but not on her. It's just wrong and the slicked back hair isn't helping.

Jo Champa looks like she's wearing a costume from Gone With the Wind minus the hoop skirt undergarments. Tiered ruffles is not a red carpet statement I approve of. NEXT!

I wish Jodie Foster had chosen a dress as amazing as she is, but unfortunately she didn't. She looks beautiful, but her disco ball Xanadu frock does not.

I love Julianna Margulies and I love Pucci, but sometimes two rights don't make right if you know what I mean. The dress is messy. Her hair is slicked back too tight and adding bright red lips to the mix didn't do her any favors.

Julianne Hough's Monique Lhuillier gown reminds me of  the feather duster in Beauty and the Beast. The top is beautiful, but the shape at the bottom ruins it for me...

I understand that Kathryn Bigelow is a genius and all, but I think she could've put in a little more effort here. She is after all a beautiful woman, but this dress looks like it came from the mother of the bride section at a bridal store and it doesn't lay right at the bottom.

Nice try Julie Bowen, but your Halston gown would be lovely just about anywhere except the Golden Globes. It's not dressy enough and I'm not digging the asymmetric hemline situation. This isn't the worst, but it's not great either.

Ariel Winter chose this floral Valentino frock, which I think would be totally appropriate for Easter Sunday, but not the Golden Globes. I do love the jeweled headband though!

I really hope after this awards season Jessica Chastain hires a stylist. She is beautiful and her hair is perfection, but this dress does her no favors!

No, no, no J-Lo! You look like a doily!

This almost works, but not quite. Kristin Wiig is gorgeous and her Michael Kors dress is gorgeous, but it's a little too low-cut for her and she looks a little dumpy. I would've loved to see her in a more classic red carpet style with some sparkles!

Oh hai Blossom! We haven't seen you for a while! You're still adorable, but your dress doesn't fit you well and it's not at all flattering. Next time try a sleek black dress instead. (You're welcome.)

I am so sick of pastels. I feel like if you're wearing a pastel gown it needs to be flawless and this just isn't. Rosario Dawson looks a bit like an Easter egg with uni-boob and I don't like her hair either.

Thandie Newton's dress is pretty, but I'm not a fan of a mini for the Globes. Paired with the Mary Jane style pumps, it looks a little bit too young for her too. I'd have loved to see Thandie show up in a classy full skirted tea-length number if shorter is what she wanted, but not this. None-the-less, her hair and make-up is stunning.

Who were your picks for Best & Worst Dressed at the Golden Globes?

  1. This is why I love blogging, you get to see so many different opinions. Even though my list differs from yours greatly yours makes complete sense. I thought Best Dressed was Naomi Watts and Worst Dressed was Sienna Miller!
