Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel

You may be shocked to hear that before about a year ago, I had never heard of Diana Vreeland or if I had, it hadn't made much impact because I didn't know who she was. So you can imagine my shock when I discovered after watching this film that she's one of the single most inspiring people I've ever come across... How could I not have known about her before?!?!

Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel is a documentary built around a series of interviews on tape that were conducted in preparation for writing her memoirs before she died along with a few television interviews and other video sources scattered throughout the film.

A few things you may not know that might peek your interest for watching this film... Diana Vreeland was technically the first ever fashion editor, a title she achieved at Harper's Bazaar. She's been credited with discovering Lauren Bacall and she later became the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue. She was born in Paris and also lived in London before settling in New York. She's nothing if not fascinating!

I would definitely recommend watching Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel for anyone who has an interest in fashion, photography or modern history. You won't be sorry!

  1. I saw it in the theater and LOVED it. People throw around the word "fabulous" but she was the real deal!
