Right Now - Magic Mike, Gatsby, Girl Crush & Snacks

  1. So, I finally saw The Great Gatsby and though I don't think any film could ever capture the emotion of the book, which is one of my favorites, I really enjoyed it. I thought Baz Luhrmann's interpretation was innovative, the performances were great, the music was shockingly amazing and the costumes were simply breathtaking. Did you see it? I'd love to hear what you thought...
  2. I also finally saw Magic Mike and I'm pretty sure I'm the last woman on the planet to see it. Just in case I'm not, let me save you a few hours... It's not that great. Credit where it's due though, Matthew McConnaughey is pretty good in it and his singing is the best part of the film! If you are desperate for eye candy, then go ahead if you must, but you'd probably get the same visual satisfaction and a lot more enjoyment from watching something like 300 instead. Just sayin...
  3. The weather here has been rubbish so I watched yet another film recently, Friends With Kids. Directed by and starring Jennifer Westfeldt, this film has basically the same cast as Bridesmaids, but it's not nearly as funny... In fact, it's not that funny at all, but it's touching and a nice bit of girly mental chewing gum if you're bored on a rainy day. Nothing special, but I've seen worse and John Hamm of course is HAWT great in the film.
  4. I've been doing my darnedest to seriously limit my sweets, primarily because I'm completely paranoid about getting type 2 diabetes when I'm older, but it's really hard. I love my sweets. In an effort to significantly limit that late night nosh on sugary candy, I've been turning to an old favorite: popcorn! And yes, I pop it on the stove the old fashioned way - it takes about 5 minutes and it's so yummy! Loving the look of this White Cat Corn and you can keep the jar afterwards for storing soups, jams or sauces... Double win!
  5. Speaking of sweets, when I just can't resist I've been gobbling up these Eric the Elephant sweets from Sainsbury's and they're yummy! They taste just like Percy Pigs, but they're a bit cheaper.
  6. So, I'm finally all caught up on Dexter and I now have a new girl crush. Jennifer Carpenter (a fellow Kentuckian) is not only an impressive actress, but she's beautiful and her body is INSANE! When I find it hard to motivate myself for the gym these days, I just remember how much I'd like my body to look like hers... All it takes really! Oh, and she's on Twitter too.
