California Almonds Snack Happy 21 Day Challenge


When I was approached by the Almond Board of California to see if I would like to participate in a 21 Day Snack Happy Challenge, there was really only one answer... I mean, I love almonds - no brainer! A few days later, I received everything I needed to participate, basically enough almonds to eat 23 (a perfect handful) every day for 21 days. 3 weeks of nutty goodness and I just knew that my body would thank me!


With this handy little tin, it wasn't at all difficult to keep up the Snack Happy Challenge over three weeks. I simply made sure I always had a handful in my bag and it came in so handy.


After only about a week of eating a handful of almonds every day I noticed a change in my behavior. I was making an effort to eat my almonds during snack time rather than naughty sweets. I started to crave almonds, a heart healthy, nutrient-packed snack, instead of sugary options. I can now attest to reaching for my almonds out of habit - a healthy habit at that!

I've also been working out and making a major effort to eat as healthy as I can manage over the last few months. I obviously can't attest to whether or not eating almonds will help you loose weight. What I can say is that during the time I ate almonds as my snack every day, in addition to what I was doing already, I lost about 5 pounds... Not too shabby! Also, I primarily eat my almond snack on my way home from the gym to stop me from shoving anything I can find in my face when I get home after a really hard workout... This trick totally works and it tides me over until I can get showered and put dinner on the table.

When I feel like I need a bit more of a treat, I eat my almonds with a bit of dark chocolate drizzled over them. Two super foods that are in fact better together!
