The Truth About 4G

Unless you live under a rock, I'm sure you're well familiar with the fact that 4G is now available in the UK, however if you're like me, you're probably saying to yourself "I don't know - is it worth the hassle?" Luckily the folks at O2 gave me the opportunity to try out the service... I have to say, I'm quite surprised.

Initially, I couldn't really tell much difference. I couldn't see how fast it was until I went back to my regular 3G service. 4G is FAST! It's particularly great for any of you bloggers or social media powerhouses out there because you can upload photos and videos in an instant... Vine, Instagram and the like are a breeze with the video uploading in literally only a couple of seconds. However, for those of you who don't really care about making a video for every moment of your life, 4G still has its benefits. Google Maps, e-mails, Flipboard and pretty much everything you ever use your phone for besides phone calls & texting is split second quick! There's no danger of arriving late because your Google directions didn't load fast enough (or at all)... It's actually very convenient!

To launch the 4G service, O2 sent me alongside several other bloggers as VIP's to the launch concert featuring PlanB where we were free to upload and video as much as we liked, then sent us home with a month's free service to try.

I've been using it loads and for me, the only drawback at the moment is the cost. Because I personally work from home and am regularly wi-fi connected it's not worth the extra spend because I wouldn't use it enough, however if I were on the go all the time, I would find 4G completely invaluable. When schedules are full and time is short, the last thing you want to do is spend your precious few free minutes waiting for something to load on your phone! Like most things in technology, it's probably safe to assume that the cost of 4G will go down over time, however in this instance, to quote Confessions of a Shopaholic, "Cost and worth are two very different things." 4G is cool... I'm a fan!

While you're contemplating all that techno information, enjoy this highlights real from the O24G Launch Concert... Can you spot Nicole Scherzinger in the audience?
