Combatting Skin Congestion With ESPA Skincare

About a month or so ago I received an invitation to the Bulgari Hotel Spa to try out a new product by one of my favorite skincare brands ESPA. The event was to launch the Optimal Skin ProSerum, a new product that effectively provides the same results as a serum combined with a facial treatment oil. As part of the event, I was given a skin consultation by one of the beauty experts at the Bulgari Spa and the results shocked me. I expected to have terrible sun damage and super dry skin. What I found out is that I don't have much sun damage at all, however what I felt was dry skin was actually a crazy amount of skin congestion. Now that I think about it, it's not terribly surprising since I didn't have these skin problems until I moved to London, which as far as skin is concerned, is a busy, dirty city. Literally three days later I had a similar consultation where I was told the same thing.

The beauty therapist was shocked as first when I said to her that I tend to exfoliate three times a week. We all know that over-exfoliating is just as bad as not doing it at all because it sensitizes the skin. By the end of my consult she advised me for one week only to exfoliate gently every day to relieve some of the congestion in my T-zone and then go back to exfoliating 2 to 3 times a week.  The tips she gave me were so helpful and my skin is majorly improved without having had expensive facials or professional treatments!

I have rarely (if ever) recommended using only skincare products from one brand, but I can honestly say that for the past month, I've only used the ESPA products suggested to me with the exception of the  Boscia Luminizing Black Mask that I've used only twice during the process. My skin feels smoother, softer and clearer, not to mention that these products are luxurious in touch, smell and how they feel on the skin. Here's my method:

  1. ESPA Skin Refining Polish - For 1 week, I used this every night before I went to bed and followed up with the other products above. I now use it 2 to 3 times per week depending on the need. Otherwise I use face cleansing wipes or a mild cleanser when I'm not exfoliating.
  2. ESPA Hydrating Floral Spafresh Toner - I use this every morning and every night after cleaning my face.
  3. ESPA Optimal Skin ProSerum - After toning, I use 3 drops of this rubbing it between my hands to warm it and then smoothing all over my face, eye area and neck.
  4. ESPA 24-Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturiser - The therapist said if you don't put on your eye cream before your moisturizer, then don't bother. I thought that was a great tip. I apply this morning and night after the serum, before the moisturizer.
  5. ESPA 24-Hour Replenishing Moisturiser - This is the best moisturiser I've used in a while. It's great for day or night and lasts forever. It's the last thing I put on my face before make-up or bed time.

The ESPA Optimal Skin ProSerum is a great, innovative product and I'm really enjoying it! It calms, smooths, soothes and nourishes the skin in a way I've never experienced from one product before. Depending on your skin, you need only use a little bit, generally 3 to 4 drops for your whole face. At £48, the Optimal Skin ProSerum is a bargain as far as luxury skincare prices go and in my opinion, it's worth every penny!
