A Trip to the Farmer's Market in Bordeaux

While in Bordeaux I stumbled upon a farmer's market down by the riverside. I didn't know it was there, but loving food as I do, I was happy to see it! Visiting this beautiful market on a Sunday afternoon in sunny France was one of my favorite experiences during the 9 days I spent there. The people were so nice and their joie de vivre was contagious. Beautiful food was in abundance and the prices were so low I did a double take several times. I've decided that the next time I visit Bordeaux that I'll forgo the hotel in favor of an apartment with a kitchen as it seems a shame to visit such a nice market and walk away empty handed… These are my photos from that beautiful afternoon that revived my love for food and inspired me to get back in the kitchen this summer!

Husband & wife serving seafood out of their converted boat stall.

Fresh fish kabobs

These beautiful glass creations are salt shakers - obviously I came home with one.
It's the newest conversation piece on my table during dinner parties.

Luckily herbs & spices travel well - I stocked up!

This very kind lady shared her recipe for Steak au Poivre with me - I look forward to making it soon.

A charismatic Panama hat salesman who was the biggest flirt at the market.

The price is right!

Bread baskets

Cheese please!

Being so close to the coast means seafood for miles...

Beautiful fresh vegetables, straight from the farm...
