Weekender - June 5, 2015

Hands up if you're glad it's Friday! Here are a few things to keep you occupied this weekend…

  1. Watch: One of my all-time favorites Mermaids is now available on Netflix… Pop some popcorn, snuggle up on the couch and enjoy this epic classic starring Cher, Wynona Ryder, Christina Ricci and Bob Hoskins. It's got a little bit of everything… Great costumes, high drama, a major hottie and an epic soundtrack of 60's pop songs.
  2. Read: Pick up a book and get started or head to your favorite local bookstore for a new one to enjoy over coffee at a coffee shop. If you need some suggestions, check out the Required Reading board on the Pink Julep Pinterest page or just check it out below.
  3. Make: Brunch is fun, but there's no need to go out if you'd rather stay in… Why not treat yourself to a brunch at home? Pour some bubbly, brew some coffee and make this recipe for Bacon & Cheese Frittata. Invite friends over or enjoy it all alone… Either way will be a lovely way to spend a Saturday or Sunday morning!
  4. Do: Book tickets for a Secret Cinema showing of Empire Strikes Back this summer and then head on over to the RebelX Stores in Bethnal Green to stock up on gear for the occasion!
  5. Eat: If you've never been to Bibo in Putney, you're in for a treat! It's delicious, inventive, Italian food and the wine list is great. If the weather is nice, try to score a table on the deck outside for the perfect summer meal. I love going to Bibo for either lunch or dinner, though sometimes I just head there for a cheeky coffee or glass of wine and the amazing Bombolini with Amalfi Lemon Curd - it's like miniature lemon filled donuts in reverse and one of my all-time favorite desserts!
