Grammy's 2016 Top 10 Best Dressed

source
To me, the Grammy's red carpet is like a guilty pleasure every year... There seems to be a license to go wild with what you wear on this red carpet that just doesn't translate to most other awards shows. That said, I don't love a batshit crazy ensemble that doesn't make sense... The looks that always have my heart are the ones that pay homage to the edginess of a music awards show, while still looking chic and glam and the same time. If you're scratching your head wondering where some of the super pretty dresses are on this list, I'll help you out - they're not here. Part of being best dressed in my opinion includes dressing for the occasion. A little edge is necessary for the Grammy's as far as I'm concerned and I'm counting down my favorites here starting with...

10. Carrie Underwood
Personally, I think this dress is a little too much for the Grammy's, however it is beautiful, edgy, black and that sky high slit gives it just enough of a rock-n-roll vibe. I'm not sure about the hair, the jewellery, or the tan, but I do get some rock & roll wedding vibes from this look, so it's definitely on my list.

 9. Adele
Aside from the sparkles, Adele's dress is a little plain and I'm happy to admit that, but there's something about the way she's wearing it so effortlessly with her sexy, messy bob and her dark manicure that just makes this work. I think I'm kind of in love with the silhouette too - she looks ready to party, in a really relaxed way and it just works.

8. Bonnie Raitt
Sparkly, edgy and true to her roots... I feel like you'd see Bonnie Raitt wearing a less glitzy version of this outfit pretty much any time... All she's missing is a guitar slung over her shoulder.

7. Zendaya
A properly cut tuxedo with a classic white shirt and some serious bling rings is a perfectly androgynous way to win on the Grammy's red carpet in my opinion. I even kind of like the mullet hairstyle - it's like a throwback to 80's male popstars... Well played.

6. Amber Heard
Another tuxedo look, but there's something ever-so-slightly better about this one for me. I think it's the Jerry Hall vibes I'm getting from the red lips and messy blonde hair. The v-neck works too... Super chic.

5. Florence Welch
Flo gets it here and she's ticking all the music awards show red carpet boxes in this ethereal pink Gucci confection. Complete with moons, stars and fireflies, this gorgeous dress is just crazy enough to work on the Grammy's red carpet and with her long red hair, it's just perfection. All that's missing is a unicorn...

4. Megan Trainor
This sparkly black frock with the gold clutch is giving me some serious Michael Jackson vibes... All that's missing are the epaulets on the sleeves and a single glittery white glove. The look is just right for the Grammy's, but still quite pretty and glamorous.

3. Selena Gomez
Selena is channeling the Disco queens of our dreams in this sparkly Calvin Klein gown. The dress itself is amazing, but then she went with long curly hair and hoop earrings and absolutely nailed it. What's that I hear? I think it's the sound of Disco coming back!

2. Taylor Swift
Tay was my pick for number 1 until I took a closer look, but all-in-all, it was literally too hard to decide. While I love this colorful Atelier Versace two-piece dress, I'm not sure how much I love the whole look. I don't hate the new haircut, but I don't love it. I'm not sure I would've gone with the choker either. In fact I might've chosen a turquoise necklace or collar of some description like we've seen on red carpets in the past worn by Eva Mendez or Cameron Diaz. That said, Taylor Swift's body is insane and it looks like this dress was made for her. The shoes are the perfect choice and I can't get over how stunning these colors are. I'm also diggin the red lipstick... All-in-all this look is a winner!

1. Kacey Musgraves
I've rarely seen an Armani Privé gown on the red carpet that I flat out didn't love and this is no exception. The colors, the texture, the shape... It's all stunning! This is actually a gown that I love for the Grammy's, but would also love to see at any other event - it works anywhere and looks positively perfect on Kacey Musgraves. The ponytail only makes it better and paired with the multi-colored tiers, it's giving me 80's rock-n-roll Cindy Lauper prom dress party queen vibes that are just too perfect for a music awards red carpet! This is by far one of the best red carpet looks I've seen all season... Head to toe perfection.

Who was your pick for best dressed on the Grammy Awards red carpet this year?
