Blushing Babe

I used to be a blush-a-phobe, absolutely terrified of having a Bridget Jones moment, being the girl at the party with way too much on my cheeks. I didn't even wear it for years. I mean, there's a fine line between rosy glow and hot pink overkill when it comes to blush... That said, I think blush has come a long way in the last few years. There are so many different options these days from creams to pencils to powder versions, many containing their own highlighting elements making it easy to go from drab to fab in the quick swipe of a brush or finger. Now I'm obsessed with blush after years of hardly ever wearing it and my favorite way to apply it is to use the side of a soft blush brush to lightly sweep it over the apples of my cheeks until the desired effect is achieved. If it's too dark, I lighten it up with a sweep of translucent powder over top, but generally I find that using a handheld mirror while standing next to a window for natural light keeps me from ever going to heavy with the blush brush.

I also love to experiment with my blush, sometimes layering different colors on top of each other... A lighter shade with a highlighter in it looks lovely layered over a darker shade and it can be fun to get creative with rosy cheeks. Another favorite combo is a bronzer or dark, brown toned blush with a little light pink or coral blush lightly dusted over it.

How do you like to wear your blush?
