I'm a bit of a home bird... I like to go out and travel of course, but I always love coming home too. I often find that I absolutely require time at home now and then, particularly during the weekends when I have some wiggle room to relax and enjoy the simplicity of normal, boring, day-to-day tasks like painting my nails, catching up on Netflix, reading or getting my life organized. When I'm too heavily scheduled and don't have enough of this, I can be a little bit grumpy to be honest... That's just me. I've learned to recognize this about myself and these days, I schedule in weekends at home to make sure I always have time for doing the little things at home, relaxing and recharging between traveling, busy weekends with friends and other things that often come up. These are a few lovely things I love to have on hand for some quality time at home, whether it be during a weekend or on an evening after work.

1. A cuppa tea...
Begu Calm Tea and Blueberry Cornmeal Muffins

Nothing beats a cuppa when you're chilling out or need to relax... I'm currently enjoying Calm from lifestyle tea brand Begu. Its flavor is minty and it's blended to help you feel calm and relaxed. Because it's caffeine-free, you can drink it anytime of the day. This particular tea also aims to help prevent comfort eating when you aren't hungry to keep those sneaky extra calories at bay.

2. A good snack...

Muffins are a wonderful thing... Not only are they a perfectly valid breakfast option - they're pretty delicious for snacking too. I love to make muffins on a Friday evening to have for the weekend, especially when I know I'll be home. These delicious Blueberry Cornmeal Muffins are from the book Kitchen by Nigella Lawson and they're one of my faves!

3. Comfortable surroundings...

Whether you're tidying, organizing your sock drawer, or relaxing, it's great to feel at home when you're there... I love scented candles for this and little accents like throw pillows can be a quick & easy addition to any home to make it more cozy when you're snuggled up with a good book or movie and more visually appealing when you're busy pottering about your home. I'm currently loving the fabulous throw pillows from the new home decor brand Happy + Co. They're absolutely gorgeous, chic and give a pop of interest to any couch, chair or bed. Scented candles are also a must when I'm spending time at home. A lovely candle can make a room smell amazing and just gives that cozy feeling of comfort. I'm currently burning a Sebnini of England Jasmine & Patchouli Candle and its spicy scent is so lovely.

4. A really good book...

You may spend your time at home doing laundry, writing emails to friends, cooking or hanging out with your significant other, but you never know when you might get the feeling to just sit down and have a read of a good book... I'm currently reading Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy by Helen Fielding and I've got to say, it's great having Bridget back - I'm loving every minute of it!

What items do you like to have on hand for some relaxing me time at home?
