Weekend Edit No. 1

"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."
- L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

Welcome to the Weekend Edit, a new series on Pink Julep coming at you every Friday morning packed with things to keep you occupied over the weekend.

On Pink Julep...

Emma Watson plays a flight attendant who joins a Chilean cult to save her boyfriend (played by Daniel Brühl) who was sent there against his will after a government coup in The Colony. Based on a real cult that also acted a sort of concentration camp for criminals in Chile called Colonia Dignidad, this film is inspired by true events, is a lovely romance story that's not too mushy and will have you on the edge of your seat. The Colony is currently available to rent or buy on iTunes.

"Hey girl!" If you're in need of a Ryan Gosling fix, then I highly recommend The Big Short! This may be a film about finance, but it's a lot more fun than I expected. It's funny, the cast is amazing and it's a really fascinating story - perfect for a Friday or Saturday movie night at home! Watch on Netflix or it's available to buy on Amazon and iTunes.

Spotlight was the Oscar winner for Best Picture and it's definitely one to see if only for the amazing cast performances alone. Starring Liev Schreiber, Rachel McAdams and Mark Ruffalo, it's available to buy or rent on Amazon or iTunes.

Britney Spears New Album
Fresh off the heels of her amazing performance in London on Tuesday at the 10th annual Apple Music Festival (I was lucky enough to go!) Britney Spears is back in a major way and her new album Glory is a lot of fun! If you're a Brit Brit fan, need new workout tracks or feel like a good ole fashioned dance party, then this is the album for you! Britney Spears Glory is available to listen to on Spotify or it's available to purchase from iTunes.
Go to the cinema to see Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I'm off to see this on Saturday night and I can't wait! I read the book a couple of years ago and I loved it. I think Tim Burton is a great choice for directing this film and Eva Green will be perfect as Miss Peregrine!

Visit the Best of Britannia show on September 30 - October 2, 2016 at Victoria House London and enjoy a day of learning about and shopping with some unique and impressive British brands of all kinds including fashion, beauty, homewares, furniture, decor, accessories, jewelry, menswear, home accessories, fragrances and much more. This is a great place to get an early start on your Christmas shopping and you can take pride in supporting British businesses. Tickets are available here.

Bjork Digital continues at Somerset House until 23rd October. Sessions limited to 25 people, so booking in advance is advisable.

See Bridget Jones's Baby at the cinema if you didn't see it already - it's hilarious and you won't be sorry!
If you haven't already planned to see The Nutcracker this Christmas, it's time to get organized before all the performances sell out. Last year I saw it at the Royal Opera House and it was so enchanting. Click here to book tickets for this year's performances.
