"You're trending bro." - Tony
If you love food, enjoy social media, like a good comedy, fancy the idea of a road trip, dream of scrapping it all to start a food truck or simply just love Sophia Vergara, this is the movie for you. I doubt your beau will complain if you ask him to watch it as it appeals to a wide range of people. It's also just a lot of fun and heartwarming as can be.
The film is about a chef who finds himself in a predicament and then makes it worse by misusing social media. He's divorced and his son helps him figure it out a bit, but when it gets worse, his ex-wife chimes in as well and an epic adventure begins. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll want to buy some new kitchen knives... It's the perfect film for an evening at home. Without further explanation, here's how to make a night of it...
1. The Film
Chef is available to rent or buy digitally on Amazon, on DVD from Amazon or you can buy it digitally on iTunes as well.
The movie is about a chef, so naturally it's gotta be wine... I chose Journey's End Cabernet Sauvignon mostly because its name goes with the film, but it's tasty too!
One of the early scenes in the film features John Favreau whipping up a gorgeous pasta dish like it's no big deal, followed by Scarlet Johansson eating it like it's the best thing she's ever tasted. So it has to be pasta... It looks like the dish he makes might be similar to a Carbonara, so I give you my recipe for Marsala Glazed Chorizo Carbonara. You'll love it and the Chorizo gives it a nice kick! Click here for the full recipe.
4. Get Social
Enhance the film watching experience by Tweeting while you watch it... Try searching for hashtags like #Foodie or #Foodporn and while you're there, be sure to follow @pinkjulep and let me know that you're watching the film so I can Tweet you too!
Next week's film is nothing short of "a slice of Heaven." Can you guess what it is?
