Nothing makes a weekend great for me quite like a long walk. It's a chance to unplug, unwind and get outside... I shut down my laptop, leave my cares behind and pick a direction to wander. London may be a big city, but it's not at all short of beautiful spaces for walking... From riverside walking trails to parks and a few off-road options on the outskirts of the city, there are more than enough places to enjoy the great outdoors and get away from the hustle & bustle of daily life.
Some of my favorite places to walk are Richmond Park where I always see a ton of deer hanging around, the Thames River Path and Putney Heath & Wimbledon Common. When I have a lot of time, I love the walk from Richmond to Twickenham, taking in the Teddington Footbridge and perhaps wandering into Bushy Park. It's pretty hard to be in London and not be close to a lovely walking spot and whether you're preference is city or nature, there's definitely something for everyone.
These photos were taken at Leader's Gardens, the place I walk to when I'm short on time. It's a lovely little park situated right on the riverbank with a playground for the kids, plenty of space for picnics, lovely park benches for having a rest, a little cafe called Looloo's that serves a great bacon roll and so many trees that you're never at a loss for shade on a sunny day. How do you like to unwind during your weekend time off?
