Beauty Edit - February 2017

We're in the middle of winter and for me, that always means upping my beauty game. A little more makeup to brighten up my face comes with consequences, inevitable hat hair woes take hold and skincare begins to feel like hard work, combatting the dryness from cold wind and heaters. This month I'm focusing the Beauty Edit on eight winter beauty lifesavers that are getting me through...
lipstick, hairspray, skincare and makeup
1. Oskia Renaissance Mask (c/o Look Fantastic) / 2. The POREfessional Pro Balm(c/o Benefit Cosmetics)
3. Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser in Cocoa Radiant (c/o Vaseline)
4. Magnif'eyes Eye Contouring Palette in London Calling Nudes (c/o Rimmel London)
5. S-Factor Vivacious Volume Hair Spray (c/o Tigi/ 6. Wonder'full Mascara With Argan Oil (c/o Rimmel London)
7. Multi-Active Tinted Lip Balm in Snowberry Red (c/o Albus & Flora) / 8. Daily Superfoliant (c/o Dermalogica)

1. Oskia Renaissance Mask

Pink Face Mask
Oskia Renaissance Mask (c/o Look Fantastic)
The Oskia Renaissance Mask is unlike any other face mask I've used. It smells of beautiful roses and starts out as a pink gel, but once massaged onto the face, it turns into a white cream which is how you know the ingredients have been activated. At that point you can relax, leaving the mask to do the first part of its work for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the sensitivity of your skin. I have fairly sensitive skin myself, but I usually leave this on for 12 to 15 minutes and once I rinse it off I have a bit of redness, but that fades after about 1/2 an hour. After the resting part of the process, simply wet your hands and massage the mask further, activating step 2 which is like a creamy milk before rinsing off with warm water. The thing about this mask is that the results are not immediately visible so don't be discouraged if you don't see improvement right away. Every time I use this mask, my skin looks pretty much the same right after, but by the following morning the results are incredible including smoother, softer, more glowing skin. If you're finding that your pores are a problem, your face feels really dry & dull and makeup isn't gliding on your skin quite the way it used to, I definitely recommend the Oskia Renaissance Mask. It's great for a boost and getting that fresh face you crave for make-up free days too. An added benefit is that this mask is certified organic and while it's certainly not a budget beauty find, I personally think the Oskia Renaissance Mask is worth every penny!

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Facial Primer
The POREfessional Pro Balm(c/o Benefit Cosmetics)
Pore size is a beauty thorn in the side of so many women, myself included. I'm super happy to have found Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Pro Balm because sometimes my pores are so bad that it feels like they suck makeup into them. The POREfessional really helps with this and its silky smooth, almost powdery finish helps my makeup to glide on a little smoother, stay put and look more flawless... When it comes to pore size, some of us can use all the help we can get and The POREfessional is a lifeline for smoother, more flawless looking skin!

3. Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser in Cocoa Radiant

Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser in Cocoa Radiant (c/o Vaseline)
Let's face it... Moisturising can be a pain, especially in winter when it's cold and all you want to do after a shower is throw on several layers of something warm and snuggly. A spray moisturiser is a lifesaver this time of year because it's quick and easy to use. This moisturiser is just lovely and does what you want it to, nourishing and hydrating dry winter skin with very little effort. What's better about the Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser in Cocoa Radiant is that it smells amazing, a little like coconut sun lotion, so it gets me through the winter with thoughts of a warm summer to come. Sometimes it's the little things... I love this at home, but it's great for throwing into your gym bag too for staying hydrated after a workout & shower.

4. Rimmel London Magif'eyes London Calling Nudes Eye Contouring Palette
Eyeshadow Palette
Magnif'eyes Eye Contouring Palette in London Calling Nudes (c/o Rimmel London)
Gorgeous colours ranging from a milky white through a spectrum of pinks into a deep purple in both matte and shimmer shades are what you can expect from the Rimmel London Magnif'eyes Eye Contouring Palette in London Calling Nudes. I absolutely love this palette and it's a wonderful, more affordable alternative to the Naked Palettes for beauty babes on a budget. Definitely use your own brushes with this one rather than the sponge applicator and I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do. The shadows are soft, pigmented to perfection and the shimmer is high as promised. If these colours don't suit, this palette is also available in Keep Calm & Wear Gold and Grunge Glamour

S-Factor Vivacious Volume Hair Spray (c/o Tigi)
I have a love/hate relationship with hairspray. I know that I need it, but so many on the market just don't do what they say on the tin. Not the case with S-Factor by Tigi Vivacious Volume Hairspray, which sprays evenly and really works to give my hair volume and keep it in check. I love spraying this on my hair all over and brushing it out with a Tangle Teezer before heat styling and using it to lock in a style whether straight or curly. It's not at all sticky or gross and it smells lovely. In short, this hairspray is a winner.

6. Rimmel London Wonder'full Mascara With Argan Oil

I don't know about you, but some days I feel like I just can't bear to wear heavy mascara. Even though I love a good lengthening and thickening from my mascara as much as anyone else, occasionally it's nice to go with a softer, lighter weight on my lashes... This is where Rimmel London Wonder'full Mascara With Argan Oil really helps. It's moisturising and lightweight, yet still looks great. I particularly love the flexible wand which admittedly takes some getting used to, but actually really works to reach all lashes.

7. Albus & Flora Multi-Active Tinted Lip Balm in Snowberry Red
red tinted lip balm
Multi-Active Tinted Lip Balm in Snowberry Red (c/o Albus & Flora)
Albus & Flora is the perfect lip care product to stock up on whether you're braving the winter at home or hitting the slopes during ski season. Nourishing, full of anti-oxidants & vitamins and beautifully tinted, these gorgeous lip balms are available in a few different colours and offer a broad spectrum of UVB & UVA protection. As someone who loves to be outdoors more often than not these days, I love the Albus & Flora lip balms because they make it easy to protect my pout while looking glam at the same time. The colour isn't overwhelming - it's more of a soft touch of rosy red and it couldn't be more perfect for days spent outside, enjoying the adventure rather than worrying about lipstick.

8. Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant
Dermalogica powder exfoliator
Daily Superfoliant (c/o Dermalogica)
Before trying Dermalogica Superfoliant, I'd never before tried a powder exfoliator, or at least one that comes to memory, but I am now a fan. This works by pouring about 1/2 teaspoon (sometimes I use a little more to get a good rub on my neck and d├ęcolletage as well) into very wet hands and rubbing them together to make a paste that you massage on your skin after cleansing. The product is super gentle, smells lovely and my face always feels super clean, smooth and soft after using it. Because your hands need to be very wet, this exfoliator totally works for use at the sink or even in the shower and it's a hero for the fight against pollution's ageing effects on the skin, which is something that's super important for Londoners and other city dwellers lately. I love that Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant can be used daily, however if you have sensitive skin, it might be advisable to use this every other day or however it works best for you and your skin type.
